Salary - Circa £65,000 (Depending on Skills and experience) + Car Allowance

Location – Covering Ipswich, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, and surrounding areas

Permanent, Full time 37 Hours with flexibility for part time

What will you be doing?

As a Lead OT Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across Operational Technology (OT) systems used within Anglian Water’s operational environments. Acting as the primary point of contact for complex OT and process control challenges, you will support field engineers, operational teams, and stakeholders in diagnosing and resolving high-impact technical issues, whilst supporting with the delivery of large capital schemes. Your expertise will be central to ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing leakage and pollution events, and upholding service resilience across our critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the OT Programme Team and senior business stakeholders to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are fully aligned to AM8 goals to enable business outcomes to be achieved e.g. ODIs, I2S, energy efficiencies and OPEX savings
  • Undertake technical risk assessments to determine areas of risk and impact of changes to be implemented to existing automation control systems and Industry Control Networks
  • Responsible for the creation of high-level customer requirements documents (IRDS) and detailed Functional Design Specifications (FDS), including system architectures for new and modifications to existing Automation & SCADA systems, industry control networks
  • Work closely with all AWS capital delivery partners (@one/IOS) and 3rd party supplies to ensure new hardware has been fully tested and approved before installation.
  • Undertake the review and sign-off of 3rd party technical documentation and designs relating to the delivery of Automation and SCADA capital delivery project
  • Support and facilitate POC’s and trials of new Automation/SCADA hardware, technology, and systems to support the delivery of the OT strategy e.g. IIoT, Industry 4.0 etc
  • Undertake on-site commissioning and service integration of new and modifications relating to existing PLC/SCADA and industrial control networks

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive industry experience of engineering, implementing, and maintaining OT Process Control, SCADA, PLC and Industrial Networks
  • Provide technical expertise on Telemetry outstations, PLCs/SCADA/HMIs and associated networking infrastructure
  • Ability to practically apply available and emerging technologies within OT engineering to deliver robust, reliable, commissionable, operable and maintainable assets within a regulatory environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the OT discipline, processes, concepts and best practice
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with an ability to demonstrate methodical approaches to problem solving
  • Ability to write clear, concise, accurate engineering & design specifications with measurable outputs
  • Strong motivation and coaching skills
  • Excellent communicator and able to challenge and collaborate constructively at all levels
  • Full Driving Licence
