Location: Basildon. Salary: £20.78 per hour, progressing with experience, with overtime available. Eligible for fuel and performance bonus.

Working Pattern: Rotating day shift on a 3‑week cycle with average 12‑hour shifts (including statutory breaks). Standby rota. Permanent, full time. 4‑5am start times.

What does it take to be an LGV Driver?

  • Valid LGV driver's licence with Class 1 endorsements (C & E) and fully completed CPC.
  • A hands‑on attitude and willingness to work in manual and physically demanding tasks.
  • Proven safety record – a solid driving record and ability to safely operate a range of vehicles (training will be provided where necessary).
  • Team player – work closely with team members, site managers and operators, with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Environmentally conscious – passion for sustainability and waste management.
  • Customer focused – good communication and polite attitude when interacting with people on routes.

Key duties

  • Safely transport waste products between operational sites, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the central Operational Logistics office, local site managers and operators.
  • Deliver sewage‑related by‑products to sewage treatment works, farmers' fields, energy generation centres and the sewerage network.
  • Work at height without restrictions; complete relevant occupational health checks and maintain three points of contact when using a ladder.
  • Undergo drug and alcohol testing as part of the safety commitment; subject to random testing during employment.
