Salary: Circa £47,000, depending on skills and experience. Full-time, with flexibility for part-time. 37 hours per week/permanent. Base Location: Flexible across the Anglian Water region, with requirement to travel to sites across the region. This role is predominantly site based, with occasional home working.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Safety Engineer to help safeguard our people, assets, and communities by leading the management of process safety risks across our water supply operations. In this critical role, you will provide expert technical guidance to ensure that hazards are effectively identified, assessed, and controlled across our treatment and distribution assets. Working closely with operational, process safety, and asset management teams, you'll embed a strong process safety culture, support continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

You will play a key part in reducing risk, improving asset resilience, and learning from incidents to strengthen future performance. This is an opportunity to influence decision-making, shape best practice, and contribute to the safe and reliable delivery of essential services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support process safety risk management across water supply operations.
  • Provide expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, control measures and working knowledge of barrier-based risk analysis and its application.
  • Support incident investigations, ensuring lessons are learned and embedded.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process safety systems and performance.
  • Deliver assurance and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Collaborate across teams to promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
About You:
  • Background in process safety, engineering, or risk management or a history of working with toxic gases and chemicals, such as chlorine and ozone.
  • Experience in high-hazard industries.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Passion for improving process safety, resilience, and operational excellence.
