At Alpheus, we deliver innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions for industrial clients. Our projects are critical to environmental sustainability and operational excellence, and we're looking for a highly skilled Project Engineer to develop, plan and deliver these capital projects to budget, on time and to the required specification.

The ideal candidate will be from an engineering background and already experienced in the delivery of engineering projects, preferably related to water and wastewater assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for planning and delivering a range of capital projects on budget.
  • Full budgetary responsibility and accountability for delivering small to large schemes up to £1-2M.
  • Manage and deliver projects from start to successful completion, on time and to quality requirements, including detail engineering design, procurement, site construction / installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Directly oversee all critical elements of construction delivery to ensure robust achievement of key milestones, for example the installation of key process kit and the delivery of key civil engineering.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and develop technical designs, specifications, costs, and approved proposals.
  • Prepare / review contracts and subcontracts to ensure technical requirements are satisfied and commercial risks are acceptable.
  • Liaise with all project stakeholders including customers, suppliers, designers, subcontractors, site supervisors, and end-users / operators, and ensure work progresses according to plans and all requirements are met.
  • Lead on and deliver full CDM compliance, often in the role of Principle Contractor/ Principle Designer. Manage full compliance with process and documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
  • Oversee the delivery of construction safety on site where required, and where necessary the day to day coordination and supervision of contractors and work activities.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience of independently managing design & build engineering projects.
  • Proven skills and knowledge in the management of CDM, contractors and on-site construction teams.
  • Educated to degree level with an engineering background, ideally with water / wastewater experience.
  • Sound engineering knowledge and judgement.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Proactive, flexible and hands-on in your approach, prepared to work to tight deadlines with fluctuating workloads.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel, potentially across the UK, but with a focus within the greater Anglian region.
  • IOSH/ NEBOSH or similar H&S management experience and qualifications an advantage.
