Salary: Circa £45,000, dependent on skills and experience. Permanent, Full-time, with flexibility for part-time.

Base Location: Flexible throughout the Anglian Water region - Hybrid remote (Lincoln, Peterborough, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Ipswich or Colchester).

Our Water Services team clean water to the highest standard, deliver it to millions of homes, and carefully manage it to ensure it never runs out. We borrow water from the environment, store it and treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby in the northeast of our region to Milton Keynes at the south-western tip.

Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, you will play a key role in creating daily, weekly and monthly production plans that support the reliable delivery of water across our region. You'll work closely with operational teams and planners to balance supply and demand, manage constraints, and help ensure our water network operates efficiently and sustainably. As a specialist user of production planning tools, you'll help drive continuous improvement, support incident management, and ensure our plans remain accurate, implementable and aligned to business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce accurate and actionable production plans across daily, weekly and monthly timescales.
  • Work closely with long-term planners to align short- and long‑term operational needs.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to communicate plans and respond to changes.
  • Use production planning tools and data to identify issues, trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Investigate deviations from the plan and support root cause analysis and mitigation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning tools, processes and data quality.
  • Support incident response by providing insight and guidance from production plans.
  • Consider maintenance and planned works to minimise operational impact.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across Water Services, Tactical Operations and wider teams.
What does it take to be a Production Planning Engineer?
  • Previous experience in an operational role with decision‑making responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment and distribution processes.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic principles.
  • Confident user of complex software and modelling tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant professional qualification (desirable).
