An established contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of technically complex projects within a secure and highly regulated environment. Based in the Newmarket area, this role offers long-term stability, exposure to high-value mechanical packages, and the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects where quality, compliance, and precision are paramount. Due to the nature of the projects, security clearance will be required for this project (or the ability to obtain clearance).
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of detailed mechanical estimates across a range of projects
- Take-offs and pricing for HVAC, pipework, plant, and associated mechanical services
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Producing accurate cost plans, value engineering options, and tender submissions
- Supporting pre-construction and commercial teams through bid stages
- Ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and security requirements
About You
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services or M&E contracting
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and installation methods
- Confident working with drawings, specifications, and estimating software
- Detail-oriented with strong commercial awareness
- Able to work within confidential and secure project environments
- Eligible for UK security clearance (or willing to undergo clearance process)
