Multi-Skilled Engineer – Mechanical Bias

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and expanding building services and maintenance contractor that delivers planned and reactive maintenance across residential developments and commercial properties.

Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a Mechanical Bias to join their mobile engineering team, carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant room equipment across a portfolio of sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical background who is confident working on a variety of building services plant and has a good understanding of electrical systems.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing mechanical plant and associated equipment to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.

Duties Include

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant room equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out reactive repairs.
  • Servicing pumps, booster sets, pressurisation units, expansion vessels and circulation systems.
  • Maintenance of pipework, valves, strainers, heat exchangers and associated mechanical plant.
  • Inspecting and maintaining heating, hot water and HVAC systems.
  • Carrying out minor electrical fault-finding and replacing components where appropriate.
  • Completing service reports and maintenance documentation using handheld devices.
  • Identifying remedial works and reporting recommendations.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health & safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service on occupied residential and commercial sites.

About You

You'll be an experienced maintenance engineer with a strong mechanical background and the ability to carry out basic electrical maintenance where required.

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing & Heating, Building Services or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical plant room equipment.
  • Experience maintaining pumps, motors, valves, pipework, calorifiers, expansion vessels and pressurisation units.
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience within residential building services or facilities maintenance.
  • Unvented Hot Water Certificate.
  • Commercial Gas qualifications (advantageous but not essential).
