Groundworks Estimator – Join a Growing Team

Anglian Recruitment is working with a well-established and expanding groundworks and civil engineering contractor in Bury St Edmunds that is looking to appoint an experienced Groundworks Estimator to support its continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and successful business with a strong pipeline of secured work across residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. The company has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects and is looking for an estimator who wants to become a valued, long-term member of the team.

The Role

As Groundworks Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders while working closely with the commercial and operational teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed estimates and tender submissions for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Measuring quantities and pricing works accurately.
  • Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Identifying project risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers and the internal commercial team.
  • Supporting negotiations and assisting with successful project handovers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Groundworks or Civil Engineering Estimator.
  • Strong knowledge of groundworks packages, including drainage, foundations, roads, external works and infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
