About the role
Sawston Village College is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Physical Education to join our dynamic and supportive department. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality PE and inspiring young people to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a broad, balanced and differentiated PE curriculum in line with the National Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and motivate pupils of all abilities
- Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, attainment and development
- Promote high standards of behaviour, participation and achievement
- Contribute to raising standards of pupil outcomes across the department
- Play an active role in curriculum development and departmental planning
- Support pupils’ personal development, wellbeing and positive attitudes to learning
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular sport
Person Specification
- A good honours degree in Physical Education or a related subject
- PGCE or recognised teaching qualification
- Recent experience teaching PE to at least GCSE level
- Ability to deliver all aspects of the PE National Curriculum
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Enthusiasm, energy and a genuine passion for working with young people
- Experience teaching additional relevant courses
- Involvement in extracurricular sporting activities
- Experience teaching team games
- Relevant coaching qualifications from National Governing Bodies
