Salary: Main Pay Scale to Upper Pay Scale (£32,916 - £51,048 FTE). ECT applications welcome.

Contract: Full-time, permanent. Part-time applications will be considered.

Location: Bassingbourn Village College, however travelling to other schools within the Trust may be expected.

The college is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Maths & Computing to join our thriving school community. Main Responsibilities

  • Operational & Strategic Planning
    • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, teaching strategies, and departmental resources.
    • Support the implementation of the department improvement plan and wider school priorities.
    • Plan and prepare engaging lessons and courses.
    • Play an active role in whole-school planning and continuous improvement.
  • Teaching & Learning
    • Deliver high-quality Maths and Computing lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
    • Set, mark, and assess work in line with school and external standards.
    • Track, record, and report on pupil progress, attainment, and development.
    • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and challenge learners.
    • Integrate literacy, numeracy, and ICT effectively within lessons.
    • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
  • Pastoral Care
    • Act as a mentor or co-mentor, supporting the wellbeing and progress of pupils.
    • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Contribute to the personal development of students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Data, Assessment & Communication
    • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil tracking systems.
    • Use data to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external stakeholders.
  • Wider Contribution
    • Participate in school events such as parents’ evenings and open events.
    • Contribute to extracurricular activities, trips, and enrichment opportunities.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and training.

Person Specification

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C+/4+ or equivalent).
  • Recent experience teaching Computing or a related subject to at least GCSE level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Computing and technology.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equality of opportunity, and safeguarding.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (or pending for ECTs).
  • Experience of extracurricular activities.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and their impact on education.
