We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of English to join our thriving English department at The Netherhall School and The Oakes College. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to inspire and motivate students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, contributing to a high-performing department that is ambitious for every learner.

You will join a supportive and collaborative team committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences and ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning while contributing to the development of curriculum resources and departmental practice. You will also take on the role of Form Tutor, supporting students' academic and personal development as part of a strong and inclusive school community. The specific responsibilities within the department will be shaped around the strengths and interests of the successful candidate, offering opportunities to develop leadership and subject expertise.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3–5
  • Assess, record and report on student progress in line with school policies
  • Support the development of curriculum materials and schemes of work
  • Prepare students for public examinations
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
  • Act as a Form Tutor, supporting the wellbeing and progress of a tutor group
  • Contribute to departmental development and wider school initiatives
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and student welfare

Person Specification

  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Further qualifications or evidence of continued professional development
