We are currently looking for a uPVC Compounder to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for preparing and mixing high-quality uPVC compounds in line with production schedules and specifications. Working closely with the Technical and Production teams, you will play a key role in ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across the compounding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh and blend raw materials including PVC resin, stabilisers, fillers, and pigments in line with approved formulations.
  • Operate and monitor mixers, blenders, and extrusion equipment.
  • Carry out in-process quality checks (e.g. melt flow, colour, density) and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch formulations, material usage, and outputs.
  • Support manufacturing teams by responding to operational queries.
  • Help standardise and document compounding processes.
  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials and report any shortages.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and contamination-free.

Shifts: Week 1 Days – Monday to Thursday - 07:00 to 19:00; Week 2 Nights – Monday to Wednesday - 19:00 to 07:00, Thursday 19:00 to 23:00; Week 3 Days – Monday to Wednesday – 07:00 to 19:00, Thursday 07:00 to 15:00.

About You

Essential:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and interpret data sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic IT skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Understanding of safe chemical handling (COSHH awareness).

Desirable:

  • Experience in plastic compounding, ideally with uPVC.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Polymer Processing or Manufacturing.
  • Forklift licence or material handling certification.
  • Knowledge of material properties and formulation techniques.
