Looking for a role that gives you four days off every week? We're seeking a uPVC Compounder to join our manufacturing team on a permanent day shift pattern working three 12-hour shifts (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing work and values having more time during the week for family commitments, hobbies, studies, or simply a better work-life balance.

As a key member of our production team, you'll be responsible for preparing and mixing high-quality uPVC compounds that keep our manufacturing operation running efficiently. You'll work closely with our Technical and Production teams to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh and blend raw materials including PVC resin, stabilisers, fillers, and pigments in line with approved formulations.
  • Operate and monitor mixers, blenders, and extrusion equipment.
  • Carry out in-process quality checks (e.g. melt flow, colour, density) and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch formulations, material usage, and outputs.
  • Support manufacturing teams by responding to operational queries.
  • Help standardise and document compounding processes.
  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials and report any shortages.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and contamination-free.

Shift Pattern

Day Shift: Thursday to Saturday, 7:00am to 7:00pm. Training Period: For the first up to five months, you will complete your training on a Tuesday to Thursday day shift, working 7:00am to 7:00pm. Once training is complete, you will transition to your standard shift pattern of Thursday to Saturday, 7:00am to 7:00pm.

About YouEssential:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and interpret data sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic IT skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Understanding of safe chemical handling (COSHH awareness).

Desirable:

  • Experience in plastic compounding, ideally with uPVC.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Polymer Processing or Manufacturing.
  • Forklift licence or material handling certification.
  • Knowledge of material properties and formulation techniques.
