About the role
We are currently recruiting a Foiling Operator to join our Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the setup, operation, and day-to-day running of foiling machines, supporting the smooth flow of materials through the foiling area while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This is a hands-on operational role with no people or budget management responsibilities, ideal for someone with manufacturing or production experience who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Setting up and operating foiling machines and associated ancillary equipment
- Producing foiled products in line with the production plan
- Recording machine outputs using SIC and OEE documentation and procedures
- Carrying out quality checks to ensure finished goods meet required standards and defects are minimised
- Accurately recording quality performance and checks
- Disposing of rejects in accordance with company procedures
- Supporting the movement of materials and finished goods to and from the foiling area
- Assisting with empty stillages, mounting stillages onto wheels, and material flow through the foiling machines
- Supporting in-feed and off-load areas as required to reduce machine downtime
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and tidy working environment
- Completing daily safety checks on machinery and equipment
- Keeping foiling machines in good working order, working with Maintenance where required
- Sharing knowledge, supporting, and coaching team members on processes, set-ups, and operating procedures
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required by the Unit or Area Manager, including occasional support to other areas of the business
What we're looking for
Essential:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C / 4 or above)
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering production environment
- Previous experience as a technical or machine operator
- A strong team player with a results-driven mindset
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 in a technical discipline
- Previous foiling or similar machine operation experience
- A proactive approach to work and continuous improvement
Working hours & flexibility
Flexibility is required, with occasional work outside normal working hours and at weekends. Occasional movement to other areas of the factory may be required to meet production demands. Shifts: Nights- Monday to Thursday 3pm to 2am.
