We are currently looking for an experienced Flow Team Leader to join our Manufacturing team. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving performance across designated production cells, ensuring we consistently deliver against our Safety, People, Quality, Volume and Cost (SPQVC) objectives. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, with a secondary reporting line to the Head of Production, you will play a critical role in embedding Lean manufacturing principles, engaging and developing teams, and supporting the delivery of factory targets.
The Role
As a Flow Team Leader, you will provide strong, visible leadership across your production area, guiding Cell Leaders, Setters and Operators to achieve operational excellence. You will champion a proactive safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency are maintained. You will lead by example, creating an engaged and motivated workforce while supporting the wider manufacturing strategy.
Shifts - Monday to Thursday 6am to 3:15pm and Friday 6am to 13.30pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety
- Lead and promote a proactive safety culture with zero tolerance for non-compliance
- Carry out regular safety walks and ensure risk assessments are reviewed and updated
- Investigate incidents and near misses promptly and thoroughly
- Drive correct PPE usage and safe working standards at all times
- People
- Lead and manage a team of circa 30 direct reports
- Drive high levels of attendance, engagement, and performance
- Manage absence, holidays, and performance in line with HR policies
- Ensure all team members are fully inducted, trained, and supported
- Coach, develop, and mentor team members, identifying opportunities for growth
- Deliver statutory, mandatory, and role-specific training
- Quality
- Embed a ‘Built in Quality' culture across all production cells
- Reduce quality losses through root-cause problem solving (e.g. 5 Whys)
- Maintain and improve SOPs and standard work
- Participate in and drive weekly quality reviews
- Volume
- Ensure production targets are clearly communicated and understood
- Drive OEE improvement and capacity utilisation
- Ensure accurate and timely shift reporting
- Champion Lean initiatives to maximise output and yield
- Cost
- Drive waste reduction and cost improvement using Lean methodologies
- Manage overtime and worked hours within agreed CPU targets
- Identify and deliver margin improvement opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Essential
- Proven leadership experience (5+ years) within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing and OEE
- IOSH General Certificate
- Leadership qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
- GCSE English (Grade C or above)
- Strong people management, coaching, and communication skills
- A results-driven, ethical leader who remains calm under pressure
- Desirable
- Leadership qualification Level 4 or above
- IOSH for Managers
- Practical experience delivering improvement projects
- Advanced IT skills and report writing ability
