We are looking for a versatile Finance Officer to take responsibility for our day-to-day financial operations. This is a role for an experienced professional who is comfortable managing the full cycle of accounts, from ledger maintenance to credit control and month-end support. Working alongside our Finance Controller, you will be expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and ensure our financial processes run smoothly. We need a reliable, self-sufficient professional who understands the impact of their work on the wider business and can manage a high-volume workload with minimal supervision.
What you’ll be doing:
- Complete ownership of Sales and Purchase ledgers, ensuring all invoicing and supplier transactions are handled accurately and to deadline.
- Monitoring aged debt, conducting credit checks, and managing the recovery process. This requires a professional and assertive approach to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Conducting regular bank reconciliations, managing payments, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Ensuring all transactions are correctly VAT coded and compliant with HMRC regulations.
- Assisting the Finance Controller with month-end procedures and audit preparation.
- Maintaining our financial records and identifying any areas where internal processes could be made more efficient.
About you:
- Proven experience in a broad finance role (AR, AP, and Credit Control).
- A thorough understanding of UK accounting standards and VAT.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a pride in maintaining 'clean' books.
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both suppliers and customers.
- AAT Level 3 or 4 is desirable, but we highly value candidates who can demonstrate equivalent expertise through practical experience.
