What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to design, develop, and maintain our main website.
- Lead on the development of interactive microsites for major Union campaigns and events like Welcome Week, The Elections, SU Awards, and more.
- Continuously improve our digital platforms — monitor performance, identify enhancements, and introduce new functionality to improve UX.
- Ensure robust website functionality and troubleshoot any issues swiftly and effectively.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation, coding standards, and version control protocols.
- Operate the website helpdesk, supporting Union teams with web-related requests and changes.
- Stay current on web trends and technologies, and drive the adoption of best practices.
- Ensure full compliance with accessibility standards and data privacy regulations.
- Make proactive, strategic recommendations for long-term improvements and user experience upgrades
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience or a qualification in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in web development and design — paid or voluntary.
- Proficiency in front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.
- Experience with content management systems (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- A confident, adaptable approach to working with a wide range of teams — all with unique needs.
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks.
