About The Role

We are seeking an Outreach Officer to join the Schools and Colleges Engagement team within the Corporate Marketing Directorate. This role supports the delivery of our Access and Participation Plan and Education Action Plan, with a focus on students who are care leavers or have care experience. Working in partnership with the Essex Community Foundation, you will help develop and deliver face-to-face and virtual activities for primary, secondary, and Further Education students, both on and off campus. These progressive activities will aim to raise attainment and engagement. A key aspect of the role involves identifying the barriers care-experienced students in East Anglia face in accessing education, with the goal of improving institutional support and informing best practices across the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver face-to-face and virtual activities for students (primary, secondary, and Further Education) on and off campus.
  • Collaborate with partners to raise attainment and engagement.
  • Identify barriers faced by care-experienced students in East Anglia and contribute to improvements in institutional support.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Hold a degree.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, from primary students to mature learners, and with parents, carers, and teachers.
  • Knowledge of higher education pathways and passion for supporting learners in their next steps.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to engage groups.

Additional Details

The successful applicant will be based at our Chelmsford campus, with remote work options. Regular travel to schools, occasional campus travel, and some out-of-hours work are required.
