You will be the central link between stranded motorists, major motoring organizations, and our fleet of recovery drivers. If you are a master multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, we want you on our team.
The Role
As a Controller, you are responsible for the logistics of our fleet. You need to ensure the right truck gets to the right location at the right time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatching: Allocate jobs to drivers efficiently using our dispatch software (e.g., Apex, Turbo, or similar), considering vehicle type, driver location, and traffic conditions.
- Customer Support: Answer inbound calls from distressed customers and motoring clubs (AA, RAC, Green Flag, etc.).
- Problem Solving: React quickly to changes - driver delays, traffic jams, or urgent police requests - and re-route resources as needed.
- Administration: Process job sheets, update insurance portals, handle invoices, and ensure compliance paperwork is accurate.
- Driver Liaison: Keep in constant communication with drivers, ensuring they have accurate details and support.
About You
You don’t need to be a mechanic, but you do need to be cool under pressure.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent Geographical Knowledge: You should have a good mental map of the UK (or local area) and main motorway networks.
- Strong Communication: Clear, professional telephone manner and the ability to de-escalate stressed customers.
- IT Literate: Comfortable using dispatch software, email, and Excel.
- Multitasking Ability: Capable of listening to the phone, typing, and monitoring driver locations simultaneously.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in the Recovery Industry, Logistics, or Emergency Dispatch.
- Experience with recovery software (Apex, Turbo, etc.).
