Contract Type: Zero-hours (This is a Christmas peak period role)

Working Pattern: 3am start (usually 6 - 7 hours long shift)

Job Purpose

As an Indoor Mail Sorter & Relay Driver, you will play a vital role in supporting Royal Mail operations by carrying out both indoor mail processing activities and driving duties. You will be responsible for sorting and preparing mail and parcels for delivery, loading and unloading vehicles, and safely completing scheduled deliveries and collections of high-value goods using a 3.5-ton vehicle. Working as part of the Angard Staffing team, you will help ensure mail and parcels are processed, transported, and delivered accurately, securely, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Indoor Operations

• Unload and load mail, parcels, and consignments safely and efficiently.
• Sort mail and parcels to the correct delivery routes and destinations.
• Prepare shipments, trailers, and consignments for onward transportation.
• Ensure all items are processed accurately and within operational deadlines.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail when handling mail and parcels.
• Support operational workflows to ensure a reliable and efficient postal service.

Driving Operations

• Complete scheduled deliveries and collections of high-value goods across designated routes.
• Safely operate a 3.5-ton vehicle in accordance with Royal Mail policies, road laws, and safety standards.
• Ensure all items are transported securely and handled appropriately throughout transit.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and associated documentation.
• Demonstrate professional and courteous customer service when interacting with business customers and warehouse teams.

General Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively as part of the Angard Staffing workforce and support colleagues as required.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, operational guidelines, and site compliance requirements.
• Maintain high standards of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism at all times.
• Contribute to a safe, productive, and customer-focused working environment.

Essential Requirements

• Valid UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts between Monday and Saturday, including day shifts as required by the operation.
• Availability to work scheduled driving shifts (e.g., 09:30 to 16:30) when assigned.
• Good geographical awareness and safe driving skills.
• Ability to lift and carry parcels weighing up to 30kg.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards of work.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

This hybrid role offers a varied work environment, combining warehouse-based mail processing responsibilities with driving duties to support the efficient movement and delivery of mail and parcels across the Royal Mail network.

Pay Rates

Pay is shift-dependent.

Dawn Shift(Starts between 02:01 - 0400) : £18.69 per hour

Early Shift (Start & Finish between 05:31-19:59): £17.68 per hour

Late Shift (Finish between 21:40-01:59): £19.27 per hour

Night Shift (Three hours across 23:00-05:00): £20.69 per hour
