Angard Staffing is recruiting motivated individuals to join our team as Temporary Parcel Sorters with Royal Mail on the Afternoon Shift.
Shift Pattern
- Afternoon Shift: Monday - Thursday
- Shifts spanning across 12:20-22:00 depending on business needs
- For instance: 12:20-22:00 / 13:00-21:00 / 13:30-22:00 / 13:00-19:00 / 14:00-22:00 / 15:20-22:00 / 16:00-22:00
Additional shifts may occasionally be available on other days, but cannot be guaranteed. This is a temporary role – work patterns may vary week to week.
Please note: You must be available to work the full shift pattern as outlined above. Reliability and punctuality are essential, as this role supports critical operations at the Royal Mail Midlands Super Hub.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be working in operational areas of the Super Hub, including Infeed (parcels arriving) and Outfeed (parcels leaving).
Infeed (parcels arriving into the Hub)
- Unloading Yorks, pallets, and loose-load trailers
- Operating tipper and boom conveyors to place parcels onto the automated system
- Depalletising and moving pallets into holding areas using MHE (manual/electric pallet trucks)
- Scanning Yorks and ensuring parcels are correctly placed with barcodes facing upwards
Outfeed (parcels leaving the Hub)
- Operating small and large chutes to sort parcels into Yorks ready for despatch
- Labelling and moving full Yorks
- Replacing full containers with empty ones to keep the system flowing
Our ideal candidate:
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced setting
- Able to lift mail bags up to 11kg and parcels up to 30kg and push trolleys/yorks up to 250kg
- Comfortable standing and walking for long periods
- Reliable and flexible with good attention to detail
- No previous experience needed – training provided
- Comfortable switching between tasks

The table below outlines the pay rates for Mail and Parcel Sorter roles within Royal Mail’s Mail Centres and Parcel Hubs. Rates are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met. Pay rates may change during busy periods – Angard Staffing will always communicate any change in advance.

- Dawn Shift Starts Between 02:01 - 04:00 £14.61
- Early 0500 Starts Between 04:01 - 05:00 £14.17

- Lates Finishes Between 21:40 – 01:59 £15.14
- Nights Three hours across 23:00 - 05:00 £16.44
