At AnFiTest, we are developing enzyme-based electrochemical sensors for veterinary applications. We are looking for someone early in their biochemistry career to support our enzyme research and assay development, helping us progress from early proof‑of‑concept work to robust, reliable systems. This role suits a recent BSc/MSc graduate with strong practical skills, or someone with industry/placement experience, who is eager to grow into a more senior biochemistry role as the company scales.
You’ll be doing:
- Working hands‑on with enzymes, biochemical assays, and routine wet‑lab workflows.
- Preparing samples, running experiments, collecting data, and maintaining clear records.
- Developing and refining biochemical assays to improve performance, reproducibility, and integration with sensor systems.
- Working closely with the electrochemistry side of our biosensor platform, to integrate biochemical and electrochemical components effectively.
- Troubleshooting experiments and contributing ideas.
- Helping with lab organization, method documentation, and internal reports.
Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field (2:1 or above preferred).
- Experience working with enzymes and/or developing biochemical assays.
- Evidence of initiative, leadership, or self‑driven projects.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- A proactive, independent mindset suited to a small startup environment.
- Experience with enzyme‑based biosensors.
- Familiarity with protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques (even basic or taught‑course level).
- Basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., transformations, plasmid handling).
- Interest in animal health, agriculture, or veterinary applications.
