Overview of the PCN Pharmacy Technician role at Anfield and Everton Primary Care Network. The closing date is 10 February 2026. The postholder will support the practice-based Clinical Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes. The postholder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support all practice and PCN staff to develop and improve processes. They will deal with daily medication requests and queries and communicate with patients and Community Pharmacies. The role involves encouraging understanding of medicines optimisation throughout practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. The post is based across two/three different practices.
Main duties of the job:
- Manage incoming medication requests and queries from patients, pharmacies, care homes, etc.
- Assist the practice admin team with medication queries.
- Liaise with patients to resolve queries and support their use of medication.
- Contribute towards the improvement of prescribing processes in general practice.
- Promote electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering.
- Carry out housekeeping in patient records (e.g., dose optimisation and medicines synchronization).
- Use and maintain information systems and databases relevant to the position (e.g., incident reporting, medicines optimisation, prescribing data, cost savings and patient outcomes).
- Handle sensitive or confidential information in accordance with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Guidelines and the Confidentiality Code of Conduct.
- Utilise GP practice clinical systems to conduct prescribing audits.
- Undertake and participate in clinical audits to facilitate improvement and changes in practice.
- Organise and plan own workload to meet deadlines and undertake ongoing learning and development to maintain required knowledge and skills.

Anfield and Everton PCN is comprised of five practices and the ARRS Team. It has a can-do attitude to care delivery and a collaborative ethos. We support the enhancement of skills and experience through coaching, training and new areas of work. This role is based across two practices to enable variation in work.

Person Specification:
- Professional registration with GPhC
- PPE completed
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
- Evidence of CPD
- Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care
- Knowledge of GP clinical system: EMIS
- Ability to influence and persuade partners and stakeholders
- Understanding of NHS agenda and government targets
- Knowledge of systems to support management of patients in primary care
- Clinical pharmacy knowledge and terminology
- Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics and current legislation
