An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist - cystoscopy. This is a nurse-led service within the urology department. The nurse cystoscopist will work autonomously, performing flexible cystoscopies and running haematuria clinics where, following cystoscopy, they will communicate cancer diagnoses to patients if needed.
Responsibilities:
- Work autonomously with own caseload and watch list while contributing as a team member within the Cystoscopy/Urology team.
- Perform flexible cystoscopies and run haematuria clinics; where appropriate, provide cancer diagnoses to patients following cystoscopy.
- Provide clinical leadership, professional advice, and support the development of evidence-based, high-quality services that align with current and future practice and national guidelines and programmes.
- Promote excellent clinical practice, decision making, monitoring, and setting of standards with a high level of critical thinking and holistic practice that is evidence-based.
- Facilitate the professional development of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, patients, and carers.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Commit to completing an MSc and specific competencies set out by the Department.
- Demonstrate post-registration education and leadership skills.
- Experience in the specialty is desirable but not essential.
- Be prepared to undertake an in-house competency programme.
- The post holder will be based at the Royal Gwent Hospital site.
- Participation in the Annex 21 process; consideration for candidates who do not fulfil all elements of the person specification.
- Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.
