Job Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner to join our expanding Theatre Scrub Team at the new Specialist and Critical Care Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 7‑day, 24‑hour theatre service, including emergency and elective procedures across General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, Obstetrics, Maxillofacial, Gynaecology, CEPOD, and Trauma.
  • Work occasional weekends, nights and support other theatre departments within ABUHB.
  • Participate in a comprehensive training programme under a designated Theatre Practice Educator.
  • Support efficient use of equipment and materials.
  • Adhere to ABUHB policy and procedures, complete required documentation.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential Criteria
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMC registration, or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with HCPC registration.
Desirable Criteria
  • Theatre experience.
  • Welsh language ability is desirable; Welsh and English speakers are welcome.

Essential Criteria
  • Ability to travel within the geographical area to rotate between various ABUHB sites.
  • Flexibility for on‑call evenings and weekends.
Desirable Criteria
  • Satisfactory Standard/Enhanced DBS clearance, including an Adults and Children’s Barred List check.
