We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual who would like to gain experience in the specialty of occupational health nursing. The duties involve the assessment of new employees, immunisation clinics, health surveillance, and the provision of health promotion activities as required within a busy department.

Responsibilities

  • Assess new employees and deliver pre-placement health assessments.
  • Deliver immunisation programmes.
  • Co-ordinate and carry out health surveillance programmes (e.g., spirometry, skin assessments).
  • Support the occupational physician during clinical sessions.
  • Liaise with other professionals and client groups where necessary.
  • Work with minimal supervision and within a team to ensure high quality service provision.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Nurse registered with the NMC, with a comprehensive range of post-registration experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Work Context

Although the post will be mainly based at St Woolos Hospital in Newport, the successful applicant will be required to work across other sites within the University Health Board, with some travel during the working day, according to the needs of the service. Occupational Health has a commitment to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.
