Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) Trainer
Overview
Role: Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) Trainer within the Training and Development Department. Responsible for delivering PMVA training to all staff working within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Division. You will be part of a team with one other full-time trainer and a part-time trainer.
Location and travel: Training may take place in England or Wales. Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.
Requirements: Proficient with computers, iPads, Microsoft 365. Willing to undertake 3 weeks of training as part of the role.
Main duties
- Deliver face-to-face PMVA training to clinicians within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Division to ensure staff are competent and confident in the use of PMVA.
- Regular data entry, data verification and auditing; track training progress, organise and categorise data.
- Create and update spreadsheets, data visualisation and reporting.
- Communicate with key personnel from clinical and managerial backgrounds to maintain PMVA compliance and demonstrate its benefits to the Division.
- Complete post-training documentation; review and update Excel sheets, analyse data, and provide feedback to incident reporters on RL Datix incident reports.
- Generate PMVA monthly compliance statistics for wards and senior management.
- Develop and create training materials to support various department programs.
- Generate reports to the line manager regarding Restrictive Practice.

Qualifications and experience
- Teaching Certificate or willing to work towards
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Clinical experience of working within mental health or learning disability settings
- Extensive experience as a Mental Health Care Support Worker
- Experience of using Microsoft Office
- Desirable: PMVA Trainer General Service Association (GSA) qualification or willing to work towards; PGCE or willing to work towards
Essential skills and aptitudes
- Able to establish trust and professional working relationships with staff
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate with staff at various levels and work with staff at all levels
