Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Pharmacy team at Nevill Hall Hospital. If you are passionate about providing excellent service, we invite you to apply for the Band 3 Pharmacy Assistant position.
We seek a conscientious, adaptable person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hardworking, and have a good standard of general education. Accuracy, attention to detail, and computer literacy are essential.
Development opportunities will align with the skills required for the pharmacy assistant role and service advancement. You will work closely with and be supervised by the senior pharmacy technician, with full training provided to complete an NVQ level 2 or equivalent in pharmacy services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities
This role offers the chance to gain experience across all pharmacy areas, including pharmacy stores, dispensary, and wards. Responsibilities include:
- Accurate dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients, wards, departments, hospitals, clinics, and other entities such as Powys Teaching Health Board, St David\’s Hospice, and Welsh Ambulance Service Trust.
- Distribution of stock pharmaceuticals, receipt of new stock, assembly of emergency kits, preparation of pharmaceuticals, and supply of basic non-pharmaceutical information.
- Use of pharmacy and other computer systems to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Assisting in delivering a near-patient medicines management service to in-patients.
You will share responsibility for delivering high-quality pharmacy services, prioritizing patient care and striving for excellence.

Essential criteria
- Good standard of secondary education
- Experience to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
