Job Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our friendly and dynamic team at Royal Gwent Hospital. You will support patients through their rehabilitation journey, delivering hands‑on therapy sessions, assisting with functional assessments, and contributing to discharge planning across our community wards.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:

- Has initiative, empathy and a genuine passion for improving patient outcomes
Main duties of the job:
- Assist in providing occupational therapy intervention under the guidance of a registered occupational therapist to service users referred to the Occupational Therapy Service within a hospital or community setting.
- Undertake specific technical and administrative tasks as delegated by a registered occupational therapist.
Skills and Attributes:
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work unsupervised, taking responsibility for delegated tasks
- Problem solving skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to transfer learned knowledge into practical situations
Experience:
- Previous experience in a health and/or social care environment.
- Experience of working with a range of service users.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a health/social care related topic
- Basic ICT skills (word processing, PowerPoint, use of emails, spreadsheets).
- GCSE Maths and English.
Essential Criteria:
- The ability to move between sites within the health board as required by the job role.
