Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic leader to fill the role of MRI Lead at The Royal Gwent Hospital. This post is a full-time permanent contract based at The Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, with a requirement to work across other Aneurin Bevan sites as required.
The MRI Lead will operationally lead the MRI service at The Royal Gwent Hospital and assist colleagues in the operational management of the MRI service on other Aneurin Bevan sites. This will involve managing staff and equipment and providing guidance to staff working within it; the lead will have expert knowledge, understanding and interest in MRI.
The MRI Lead will be required to work with the radiology senior management team and key stakeholders to deliver a high-quality MRI service, managing, coordinating and, when required, participating in the provision of the MRI service across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The post holder will be responsible for contributing to compliance with Welsh Government targets of Referral-to-Treatment Time and Single Cancer Pathway.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job:
- To manage a team to support service development and ensure the provision of an MRI service.
- To manage change within the MRI staff as required by service development, enabling good operational management and ensuring targets are met.
- To comply with performance-related monitoring, participating in regular audits and reviews within MRI and having the ability to assess the demands on the service to ensure excellent patient care.
- To provide performance data as required and ensure an effective working level.
- To provide leadership and support to MRI staff.
- To communicate with and reassure patients, including those who may be distressed, uncooperative, or have learning difficulties, to gain their cooperation.
- To possess and maintain expert knowledge of the current MRI examinations being carried out, including cardiac MRI, and be responsible for all equipment used in these areas.
- To liaise with the MR safety expert.
- To perform MRI safety investigations.
Experience:
- Essential criteria: Management / Leadership experience
- Desirable criteria: Experience working in a wide variety of roles and specialties
Qualifications:
- Essential criteria: DCR/BSc Radiography, Postgraduate qualification in MRI or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Desirable criteria: Management qualification/diploma
