Job Overview
An experienced Band 6 Nurse is needed to support the Looked After Children’s Team based in Newport and across Gwent. The role involves assessing the health needs of looked‑after children across ABUHB and beyond, working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to promote health and wellbeing while complying with statutory guidance, legislation and ABUHB policies.
Responsibilities
- Professional responsibility for assessing, implementing and evaluating the health care offered to looked‑after children.
- Maintain a high degree of autonomy and professional accountability.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to promote protection, health and wellbeing of looked‑after children, applying statutory guidance, legislation and ABUHB policies and protocols.
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Registered nurse with experience at Band 6 level or five years of experience at Band 5 level.
- Additional qualifications and experience.
Experience & Skills
Essential criteria- Sufficient community experience working with children and young people.
- Multi-agency working experience.
- Experience with foster carers and Looked After Children/young people.
Knowledge & Skills – Essential
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Knowledge of current safeguarding and Looked After Children issues.
Knowledge & Skills – Desirable
- Previous participation in clinical supervision.
- IT skills.
