Job Overview: Deputy Directorate Manager – Division of Surgery, working for the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide leadership in conjunction with Clinical Leads and the Directorate Manager, managing planning and facilitating programmes of work within the directorate, with specific responsibility for operational oversight of performance.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities, balancing elective and trauma demand across outpatient and treatment capacity.
  • Lead on a range of programmes addressing performance and service issues, ensuring that all resources are used efficiently and effectively to provide these services.

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a management role in a large complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing difficult situations and resolving conflicts or concerns, including complex complaints.
  • Experience of having produced reports and presented to a variety of audiences.

Skills:

  • Ability to lead, develop and implement longer term policy and service development strategies.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload and that of the team to operate effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant area or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
