Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Primary Care Contracting Team. We are seeking a highly motivated Band 6 Contract Manager to support the delivery of Primary Care services, especially General Dental Services across the Health Board.
As the Primary Care Contract Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient‑centred services, supporting a broad agenda focused on service improvement and robust contract management.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience within Primary Care, able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with a flexible and proactive approach.

Main duties of the job
The role is key to supporting the Service Development Manager with the planning, development, and delivery of effective and efficient Dental services in Primary Care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating and negotiating with contractors, service providers, and professional committees to identify and achieve service development and improvement.
- Evaluating through performance management and leading the production and delivery of specific plans and projects to meet local healthcare needs.
- Managing resources effectively to ensure services are delivered on time.
Knowledge of Welsh is desirable; speakers of Welsh and English are equally welcome to apply.
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated at degree level or relevant experience.
- Post‑graduate diploma or management qualification and/or equivalent experience in a primary care setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous development.
- Knowledge of primary care contracts and their application.
- Understanding of information and budgetary management.
- Knowledge of project management principles and action plan implementation.
- Strong understanding of government policy in health and social care.
Desirable criteria
- QAT Bronze qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing and mentoring staff.
- In‑depth knowledge of current issues in primary care and clinical governance.
- Experience in consultation and negotiation.
- Experience of change management, effective resource allocation, and service delivery.
- Experience of presenting to large audiences.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working within primary care, including service provision and/or community care settings.
- Experience at the NHS management level.
- Experience implementing and managing primary care contracts.
- Experience with the Compass database and other dental systems such as eDEN and the Dental Assurance Framework.
