Community Involvement Officer in Newbridge

This post is a fixed term/secondment for 6 months until 31st March 2027 due to funding.

Integrated Well-being Networks have been implemented across Gwent to improve well-being through community-based, place-focused approaches. They form a key part of the whole-system transformation set out in the Welsh Government's long-term plan for health and social care.

As Community Involvement Officer you will support the development of Caerphilly's place-based well-being approach - strengthening local networks, engaging partners, and working with community assets to promote well-being for all.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

You will have a passion for working with people and empowering them to achieve their goals. You will be able to build strong, positive and long-lasting relationships that lead towards better well-being for all. You will be motivated, organised, proactive and a confident communicator. You will be comfortable working independently and alongside the team in order to achieve our programme objectives. You will need to be flexible to work at different locations within Caerphilly borough.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable qualification or experience.
• Evidence of continual professional development
• Good understanding of assets-based community development approaches and strengths-based approaches to working with people
• Good knowledge of a variety of methods for community involvement
• Knowledge and understanding of health inequalities and barriers / facilitators to good well-being
• Good understanding of the functions of public, third sector and community organisations
• Knowledge of information governance and confidentiality in handling personal information

Experience

• Experience of working in a community environment and engaging effectively with people
• Experience of building and maintaining partnerships to achieve positive outcomes
• Experience of producing and communicating information for the public
• Experience of dealing with a variety of people at different levels, including members of the community and partner organisations
• Experience of using community development approaches

Skills and Attributes

• Confident and approachable communicator who can adapt the message and delivery to fit the needs of the audience
• Positive and proactive with the ability to engage and motivate partnership collaborations
• Ability to build strong relationships and foster trust and co-operation between partners
• Able to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, displaying credibility, professionalism and influence
• Proficient in the use of IT with excellent knowledge of Microsoft office packages
• Creativity - layout of documents, design of presentations and displays, methods of engaging people
• Establishing systems and processes to ensure effective recording, monitoring and evaluation of engagement activities
• Ability to work on own initiative and use excellent organisational skills
• Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

• The ability to travel frequently across Gwent in conducting this role
