Job Overview
An exciting career opportunity has arisen within the In Patient Scheduling Team. The post holder will be responsible for booking Outpatient and Inpatient treatments, managing waiting lists, and validating Referral to Treatment Time (RTT) pathways.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure all protocols are followed and undertake appropriate actions to adhere to RTT rules. They will plan, prioritize, and organize theatre and clinic lists, considering pre-assessment, equipment availability, clinicians, clinical need, case mixes, and other relevant factors. The ability to adjust plans according to changes is essential.
Managing workload according to departmental policies and procedures is required, with support from a manager when needed. Each scheduler handles a large volume of theatre and clinic lists, allocating patients within defined timescales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good general education including English and Mathematics at GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent, or demonstrable NVQ Level 3 knowledge and experience.
- IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience handling sensitive telephone calls and accurately recording information into electronic systems.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of waiting list procedures.
- Experience using Myrrdin and CWS.
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, handling difficult situations involving patients, the public, and visitors.
- Good administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Welsh speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards this skill.
