Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy and supportive Outpatient Reception team at Royal Gwent Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the reception team and contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and effective service across the board.
  • Undertake a wide range of reception, telephone and clerical tasks, including greeting patients, admissions and discharging Day Case procedures and preparation of patient notes.
  • Complete patient outcomes and rebooking of follow-up appointments and treatments where appropriate.
  • Maintain professional communication with service users and all disciplines of staff.

Education and Qualifications

  • Good standard of education, including Maths and English.
  • Computer literacy.
  • NVQ 2 in administration or basic general education of literate & numerate, and willingness to undertake statutory and mandatory training during induction.
  • Desirable: knowledge of administration processes.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience of working in a busy environment.
  • Previous reception or customer service experience.
  • Flexibility in working practices.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work at other locations.
  • Polite and professional telephone manner.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team or independently.
  • Willingness to undertake basic Welsh training or speak basic Welsh.

Experience

  • Previous clerical experience or similar.
  • Desirable: customer service experience.
  • Knowledge
