These opportunities are for Senior Clinical Fellows training across specialties including Endocrine and Acute medicine, primarily based in the care of the elderly. The post will be located in a 28‑32 bedded sub‑specialty ward.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide middle grade support as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Carry out independent ward rounds in addition to consultant‑led rounds.
- Deliver the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the Consultant Physician.
- Perform assessment, monitoring and initiation of treatment with colleagues and under consultant supervision.
- Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
- Supervise junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate.
- Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress.
- Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
- Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development.
Training & Development
- Access training across medical specialties and accredited courses under the supervision of RCP trainers.
- Participate in audit and QI projects.
- Supported by a dedicated research lead based in Cardiff University for those interested in research.
Pay
Current applicable pay scales; however, these may change upon implementation of the framework agreement for reform to the terms and conditions of service for resident doctors and dentists in Wales.
