These opportunities are for Senior Clinical Fellows training across specialties including Endocrine and Acute medicine, primarily based in the care of the elderly. The post will be located in a 28‑32 bedded sub‑specialty ward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide middle grade support as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Carry out independent ward rounds in addition to consultant‑led rounds.
  • Deliver the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the Consultant Physician.
  • Perform assessment, monitoring and initiation of treatment with colleagues and under consultant supervision.
  • Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
  • Supervise junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate.
  • Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress.
  • Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
  • Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development.

Training & Development

  • Access training across medical specialties and accredited courses under the supervision of RCP trainers.
  • Participate in audit and QI projects.
  • Supported by a dedicated research lead based in Cardiff University for those interested in research.

Pay

Current applicable pay scales; however, these may change upon implementation of the framework agreement for reform to the terms and conditions of service for resident doctors and dentists in Wales.
