Job Overview: We are seeking motivated and reliable Facilities Operatives to join our Facilities team across our Monmouthshire/Blaenau Gwent Sites within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This is a varied and essential support role, helping to ensure our hospitals run safely, efficiently and compassionately. You will work flexibly across a range of facilities functions, including domestic cleaning, catering services, and hospital portering, with full training provided. You will be a key part of a large multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality services to patients, visitors and staff, while upholding the Health Board’s values, dignity, and infection prevention standards. You will be expected to work flexibly across services and cover a 7‑day rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job:
- Domestic Services: Deliver high standards of cleaning across patient and non‑patient areas, work to agreed cleaning schedules and outcome‑based standards, carry out routine, specialist, discharge and rapid‑response cleaning, safely use cleaning equipment, machinery and approved chemicals.
- Catering: Prepare basic food items (e.g. sandwiches, salads, beverages), pick and pack regeneration food trollies, monitor and record all food temperatures, maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control, following policies and procedures, carry out cleaning duties in kitchens, ward pantries, and service areas, support retail catering services, including till operation and customer service, maintain stock levels and safe storage of provisions, equipment and materials, work closely with clinical teams and Facilities colleagues.
- Portering: Transport patients including sensitive transfers, transport goods, specimens, blood products, equipment and linen across hospital sites, waste management collection and environmental duties, including litter collection, receipt and disturbing, receiving and distributing goods, treat patients, visitors and staff with courtesy, dignity and respect.

Qualifications Essential criteria:
- Basic general education
- Literate and numerate
Desirable criteria:
- Experience in healthcare, facilities, cleaning, catering or hospitality
- NVQ/BIFM Level 2 or willingness to work towards
- Previous NHS experience
Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1 April 2026. For a start date from 1 April onwards, the salary will be as per the 2026/27 pay award.
