Applications are invited for a full time Locum Consultant post as Interventional Radiologist at Aneurin Bevan UHB. The radiology on-call service is provided in-house by first on-call SpRs with secondary support from Radiologists. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team of Consultants. This post is based at The Grange University Hospital, but may include sessions at other Health Board sites.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in the specialty to the hospitals so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge in liaison with consultant colleagues and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Operational Policy and Strategic Plan.
  • Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
  • Participation in medical audit and in continuing medical education.
  • Domiciliary consultations, as appropriate, to South East Wales residents.
  • Participation in an on-call rota to cover the hospital(s) so designated.
  • Supervision of unqualified/more junior staff and students on a day-to-day basis.

Aneurin Bevan Health Board is one of seven Local Health Boards in Wales. It provides acute, community and mental healthcare services to more than 600,000 people living in Southeast Wales and is one of the largest and busiest NHS health boards/Trusts in the UK.

The principal place of work for this post is Royal Gwent Hospital but may also involve sessions delivered in other hospitals. The post holder will generally be expected to undertake their programmed activities at the principal place of work or other locations agreed in the Job Plan.
