Job Overview

The Department of Respiratory is appointing a Junior Clinical Fellow (IMT level) to support acute Respiratory in-patients at Grange University Hospital. The post will be ward-based with opportunities to attend specialist outpatient clinics and the Respiratory Ambulatory Care Unit. The successful applicant will consolidate existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Respiratory department, gaining exposure to a wide range of Respiratory-specific conditions and positioning them well for further training within the speciality. The post will include on-call in General Internal Medicine within the junior on-call rolling rota.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Provide effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of Respiratory.
  • Assess, monitor, and initiate treatment with colleagues and under consultant supervision.
  • Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate.
  • Undertake unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress.
  • Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
  • Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development.

Essential Experience

  • Completed FD training or at least 3 years in clinical fellow posts within the NHS.
  • Evidence of GIM on-call experience within the NHS.
  • Evidence of procedural skills.

Qualifications

  • Eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
