The Cardiac Day Case Unit is a challenging but rewarding environment with opportunities to develop and extend the knowledge and skills and work alongside Registered Nurses caring for patients. If you welcome the opportunity to provide excellent patient care in a challenging and rewarding environment then this opportunity is for you.

Main duties of the job:

  • To support the registered nurses within a unit or clinical area, and to provide the delivery of essential nursing care to patients under supervision of a nurse.
  • To assist registered nurses in the general care of acutely ill patients.
  • To maintain identified unit environment and equipment to the correct standard of cleanliness and working order.

This role is currently under review within the Health Board and will result in the issuing of a revised band 3 job description. If appointed your manager will ensure you are kept informed and support you through any changes including discussing any training requirements.

Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.

Essential criteria:

  • Venesection
  • Maths/English
  • BLS, basic IT skills etc
  • Able to competently record ECG’s
  • Blood glucose & urinalysis testing
  • Able to write clearly and legibly
  • Assist the registered nurse in health promotion
  • Completion minor injury competencies for Health Care Support Worker (HCSW)

Desirable criteria:

  • Able to perform minor injury treatments: e.g. - basic dressings using an aseptic technique - Basic plaster application/removal - application of slings and support bandages
  • NVQ 2/3
