An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nursing Directorate for an experienced and dynamic senior nurse leader to undertake the role of Head of Nursing Workforce, Education & Professional Standards on a secondment basis at 22.5 hours/week. The role is offered as a secondment for 5 months until 1st December 2026 and is open to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board employees only.

Applicants must obtain approval from their current line manager. Release agreement, including any early release from the current post, will need to be negotiated.

This high‑profile, strategic role includes leading and shaping nursing workforce planning, professional standards, regulation and education across the organisation. The post holder provides expert professional leadership, ensuring robust systems support NMC requirements, workforce development, education commissioning and quality assurance. Working closely with the Executive Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Nursing, the successful candidate contributes to organisational strategy, assurance and decision‑making, promoting a culture of professionalism, continuous improvement and high‑quality patient care.
