This post supports the delivery of high‑quality, complex Cloud First Data Engineering and reporting services across engineering functions within the Health Board. The postholder will translate business requirements into technical solutions, develop innovative BI products, data assets, and automated reporting solutions, and lead data engineering activities while supporting junior staff. The role operates across on‑premises and cloud environments using T‑SQL, Python, Qlik Sense, Looker, and Google Cloud Platform.

Main Duties:

  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and develop data engineering products.
  • Produce data engineering tools, pipelines and orchestration solutions (e.g., DAGs) to enable the BI environment.
  • Develop production‑ready data assets for both on‑premises and cloud environments.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot role‑related products and services.
  • Facilitate the migration to Cloud services and support the broader Information Services Team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive experience designing, building, testing, modifying and maintaining data pipelines and data stores creating complex or large‑scale data products.
  • Experience in a broad range of data engineering exercises, including data modelling such as Kimball’s Dimensional Data Modelling.
  • Proficiency in key programming languages such as T‑SQL and Python.
  • Experience developing complex data engineering processes using a range of technical tools.
