Job Overview: The post holder will provide specialist addictions service advice and intervention with service users to comprehensively assess their needs, identify options to meet those needs, and negotiate and review appropriate care within predominantly inpatient settings across ABUHB, including signposting to other services. The Addiction Liaison Team provides for service users who have presented to local hospital settings or have been referred to ABSDAS for inpatient treatment or are in a local inpatient setting and disclose a history of substance use. The nature of this service user group necessitates detailed, comprehensive, and robust packages of care that address all aspects of their psychosocial needs to promote progressive and positive change. The post will predominantly be based at GUH but may involve travel to other sites and attendance at ABSDAS MDT's. This is a fixed term/secondment post for 6 months until 30/01/2027 to cover a secondment.
Main duties of the job: A part-time opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service (ABSDAS) on a fixed term or secondment basis as an Addiction Liaison Nurse. ABSDAS provides an extensive treatment and case management service to people experiencing problems with substance use and associated complexities including mental health, physical health, pregnancy, and child protection issues. The successful candidate will work with service users to comprehensively assess their needs and liaise with relevant services, aiming to address their physical and psychological well-being in addition to their substance use. This post will involve liaising with ABSDAS senior clinicians and medical staff to provide treatment advice and support to people reporting substance use in hospital settings, as well as assisting in coordinating inpatient treatment for those on the inpatient waiting list with ABSDAS. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
