Overview
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board invites applications for a Senior & Junior Clinical Fellow level doctor to support patients at the Grange University Hospital. The post involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer, including an enhanced check with barred list information.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective and appropriate medical care of the cardiology inpatients at The Grange University Hospital and participate in the Acute Medical take.
- Be part of a large medical and multidisciplinary team working under direct consultant supervision.
- Provide prospective cover for colleagues during Annual & Study Leave for on-calls and daytime cover.
- Be accountable for own clinical competence and limit actions to those for which competence is deemed.
- Supervise unqualified/more junior staff and students to ensure patients receive appropriate care and address any untoward actions.
- Discharge planning and coordination with relatives and other agencies; liaison with patients, relatives/carers and the multidisciplinary team to keep all informed of progress.
- Maintain contemporaneous record keeping, identify progress and plans in patients’ case notes; participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Prepare complete and timely discharge summaries and progress reports; inform General Practitioners of impending discharges, medication changes and death as appropriate.
- Assist consultants in developing inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities; take a lead in local clinical audit and research projects as appropriate.
Qualifications and requirements
- Must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
- Ability to work within a framework of professional supervision and governance; comply with requirements of professional bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to switch between inpatient, outpatient, and community-based service delivery as part of the post.
- Regulated Activity with adults as defined and safeguarding checks will be completed on offer.
