The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 € per year.

This post is a fixed term/secondment for one year until 30th June 2027 to cover maternity leave. Candidates must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide efficient, reliable, responsive and holistic service in care after death across the health board sites.
  • Ensure bereaved relatives and carers receive appropriate documentation, personal effects and information in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Sign post relatives to relevant services and gather feedback on their experiences.
  • Undertake tasks within the mortuary and support bereaved families during visits.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent demonstration of competencies in Administration and afterlife patient care.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience communicating compassionately with distressed or bereaved relatives and carers.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Communication skills training.
  • Knowledge of bereavement support services.
  • Understanding of administrative processes following the death of a hospital patient.
  • Basic mortuary duties ensuring dignity of the deceased patient, cleaning equipment, patient transfer in compliance with legislative standards.

Experience:

  • Experience inputting data into databases for service use.
  • Experience working in a pressured environment with competing demands.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within a mortuary environment.
  • Experience in bereavement support.

Attitude and Abilities:

  • Willingness to work within the mortuary setting.
  • Confidence to interact with health professional staff to facilitate timely actions minimizing distress for the bereaved.
  • Ability to deal with emotive or challenging situations with tact and sensitivity.
  • Capability to manage own wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Desirable Attitude and Abilities:

  • Willingness to learn Welsh at level 1 or ability to speak Welsh.
  • Understanding of the impact of bereavement.
