We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team in the Cardiology Department, GUH. The Advanced Cardiology Arrhythmia Nurse Practitioner will be a skilled, autonomous practitioner, who has a highly developed practice and knowledge within cardiology and arrhythmia management.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work closely with the cardiologists and cardiac physiologists, establishing integral care pathways for patients requiring complex devices and arrhythmia management.
- The post holder will provide leadership for the nurse‑led Cardioversion service.
- The role will also help support the ward‑based cardiology ANP/NP team in GUH, working alongside the junior medical and nursing teams, in the management of patients admitted with acute cardiac presentation.
- This is with the aim of forging closer working relationships with admissions areas, to improve clinical pathways for patients admitted under cardiology at GUH.
- There will be a requirement for weekend working attached to this role, to support Cardiology's vision for 7 day working.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be educated to MSc level, with a relevant Advanced Clinical Practice and Independent Prescribing qualification. They will seek to expand the boundaries of nursing practice by forging and developing innovative roles, meeting both patient and operational needs. As an integral member of the multi‑disciplinary cardiology team, they will provide clinical expertise for patients admitted with cardiac conditions to the Grange University Hospital (GUH), as well as in outpatient settings.
Person Specification
Knowledge
- Knowledge/understanding of intended aims and risks of common cardiac investigations/procedures in order to obtain informed consent with patients, ECG/rhythm recognition knowledge at an advanced level.
Skills and Attributes
- Competent practitioner with advanced clinical assessment skills.
- Competent independent prescriber able to define their scope of practice.
Experience
- Cardiology experience at an advanced level.
- Experience in the management of acute/chronic cardiac conditions including arrhythmia and heart failure/device management.
Qualifications
- Current NMC registration.
- Degree in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner or equivalent.
- Masters degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.
