Responsibilities
- Provide senior professional and operational leadership for Occupational Therapy across the Acute and Trauma portfolio.
- Offer high quality clinical guidance, ensuring high standards of practice and robust clinical governance.
- Lead and support teams through change, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision‑making as part of the senior leadership group.
- Foster a culture of compassionate leadership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Work closely with professional and operational leaders to ensure services are efficient, responsive, and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Champion innovation and evidence‑based practice across the portfolio.
- The post holder will be responsible for the coordination and evaluation of service delivery ensuring effective management of human and other resources.
- The post holder will also provide the clinical and professional interface with the OT leads working in the above‑named services.
- There will be a close working relationship with all other community services and non‑statutory organisations.
- To communicate specialist information on a range of service development issues within the organisation and across other providers where there may be resistance to change and where co‑operation is required to take developments forward.
- In addition to managing a small caseload of highly complex patients there will be a particular emphasis on maintaining patient flow through the system and in delivering the objectives of the Health Board.
- The post holder will provide input to the planning and leadership to implement, develop and evaluate the occupational therapy service.
- The post holder will be responsible for planning and delivering effective and efficient services to promote independence, avoid hospital admission, reduce bed days and provide services appropriate to meet the needs of the individual.
- The post holder will form part of the senior leadership group across Occupational therapy, ABUHB.
