An opportunity currently exists within the Gwent Rheumatology Directorate for a committed and skilled individual to join their exceptional team. We have a full-time and part-time post available. The applicant will complete the Multi-Disciplinary Team working in conjunction with the other Rheumatology Nurse Specialists and Consultant Rheumatologists throughout Gwent.

Purpose: To assist with the smooth running of the Rheumatology Day Units at Nevill Hall and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospitals through acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities. To assist with the management of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, developing nursing practice in the management of rheumatology conditions. To autonomously assess and appropriately manage rheumatology patients. To monitor patients receiving rheumatology interventions in order to minimise and effectively manage associated side effects. To assist with the responsibility for the provision of specialist education for patients, carers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. To support the manager of the rheumatology team. To act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.

Main duties of the job: This position provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of patients affected with rheumatological conditions. The successful candidate will treat patients on an outpatient basis and in-patient basis. The main purpose of this role is to provide advice, support and education to patients, carers and health professionals involved in the care of rheumatological patients. The Nurse Specialist is responsible for ensuring that patients with rheumatological conditions are provided with an effective, efficient and appropriate high quality of care. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
