Are you an experienced and skilled Carpenter looking to develop your career within a large, supportive, and forward-thinking NHS Estates team? We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to join our Estates & Facilities Department as a carpenter, helping us maintain safe, functional, and high-quality environments across our Health Board.

Main duties of the job:

  • Installation, repair and maintenance of building fabric and structural components
  • Fire door inspections, repairs and compartmentation checks
  • Ironmongery repairs, lock maintenance and key cutting
  • Operation of woodworking machinery and various specialist equipment
  • Supporting other trades and contributing to minor improvement works
  • Using digital systems such as PDAs, tablets and maintenance management software
  • Ensuring full compliance with Health Board policies, safety standards and Building Regulations

Qualifications And Knowledge:

Essential criteria:

  • City and Guilds Craft Certificate
  • Apprenticeship or other recognised and approved training
  • NVQ Level III equivalent experience

Desirable criteria:

  • City and Guilds Advanced Craft FIRAS certificate

Experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Relevant post qualified experience
  • Installation and maintenance of fire doors
  • Knowledge of working within a range of carpentry related services e.g. joinery, glazing, roofing, practical maintenance installation and fault finding

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of maintenance carpentry
  • Experience of working in a similar environment
  • Woodworking machinery

Skills And Attributes:

Essential criteria:

  • Must have good craft skill
  • Good communication skills
  • Can work with minimum supervision

Desirable criteria:

  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

Other Essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory Standard DBS clearance
